How it works
This session works through guided visualization. A calm, unhurried voice leads you the whole way — you don’t need any experience, a technique of your own, or a quiet mind to begin. Over about 11 minutes it eases you in, does its gentle work, and returns you softly, so your nervous system has time to actually shift rather than being rushed.

Begin by finding a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down, and allowing your body to settle into a state of gentle relaxation, noticing where your body makes contact with the surface beneath you.
And as you settle, gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze, turning your attention inward, away from the external world and towards the quiet sanctuary within.
Take a deep, slow breath in, filling your lungs completely, and then exhale slowly, releasing any tension or stress that you might be holding onto... feeling your body soften even more with each exhale.
Now, bring your awareness to your breath, noticing the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen, allowing your breath to become your anchor in the present moment.
With each inhale, imagine you're breathing in calmness and peace... and with each exhale, releasing any worries or anxieties that may be lingering in your mind.
Allow yourself to drift deeper and deeper into a state of relaxation, as your body and mind become more and more still.
And as you relax, imagine yourself standing in a beautiful, peaceful garden, bathed in the soft, warm light of the sun... noticing the vibrant colors of the flowers, the gentle rustling of the leaves, and the fresh, clean air around you.
In this garden, you feel safe, secure, and completely at ease, knowing that you are surrounded by love and compassion.
Now, gently bring to mind a situation where you may have been particularly hard on yourself, a time when your inner critic was particularly loud.
Observe this situation without judgment, simply acknowledging the thoughts and feelings that arise, like clouds passing through the sky.
Notice the tone of your inner critic... is it harsh, demanding, or perhaps subtly undermining your confidence?
Acknowledge that voice, but understand that it is not the entirety of who you are… it's simply a part, a learned pattern, that you can now choose to reshape.
Now, imagine that a wave of warm, golden light washes over you, softening the edges of your inner critic's voice, transforming its harshness into gentle understanding.
Begin to cultivate compassion for yourself in this situation, recognizing that you are doing the best you can with what you have, and that you deserve kindness and understanding, just like anyone else.
Repeat silently to yourself, “May I be kind to myself… May I accept myself as I am… May I forgive myself for my mistakes… May I be at peace.
Feel the warmth of compassion spreading through your body, melting away any feelings of self-doubt or self-criticism, replacing them with a sense of self-acceptance and love.
Imagine yourself offering that same compassion to the younger version of yourself, the one who experienced that challenging situation… offering a hug, a word of encouragement, and the unwavering belief in their inherent worth.
Know that you are worthy of love, compassion, and forgiveness, and that you have the power to choose kindness over criticism, always.
And as you continue to breathe deeply, feeling the peace and compassion within you, know that this feeling is always available to you, whenever you need it.
You can return to this garden of self-compassion any time you wish, to nurture your inner peace and silence the voice of your inner critic.
Take a few more deep breaths, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, the gentle breeze in your hair, and the peace in your heart… knowing that you are safe, loved, and supported.
Now, gently begin to bring your awareness back to your body, noticing the sensations of your body in contact with the surface beneath you.
Wiggle your fingers and toes, gently stretching your limbs, and preparing to return to the present moment feeling refreshed, renewed, and filled with self-compassion.
When you are ready, gently open your eyes, carrying with you the peace and compassion you have cultivated in this meditation, knowing that you are worthy of love and kindness, always.
