Gentle Body Scan: Deep Relaxation & Presence — guided meditation by Vibrate

What this meditation helps with

  • a spinning, overwhelmed mind
  • a body stuck in fight-or-flight
  • tight chest, shallow breath and tension
  • that wired-but-tired feeling after a hard day

How it works

This session works through a guided body scan. A calm, unhurried voice leads you the whole way — you don’t need any experience, a technique of your own, or a quiet mind to begin. Over about 12 minutes it eases you in, does its gentle work, and returns you softly, so your nervous system has time to actually shift rather than being rushed.

Who it's for

women carrying more than their share — juggling work, people and pressure — who need a reliable way back to calm.

When to listen

Best the moment you notice the overwhelm rising, or as a daily reset at the same time each day.

Allow yourself to settle into a comfortable position, either lying down or sitting comfortably in a chair… whatever feels right for you in this moment… knowing that you are creating a safe and peaceful space for yourself.

Gently close your eyes, if that feels comfortable, or simply soften your gaze downwards… and begin to notice your breath… the natural rhythm of your inhales and exhales.

There's nothing to change, nothing to fix… simply observe the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen with each breath…allowing your body to relax more and more with each passing moment.

Notice the gentle expansion as you breathe in… and the soft release as you breathe out… allowing any tension to simply melt away with each exhalation.

And now, bringing your awareness to the crown of your head… noticing any sensations there… perhaps a tingling, a warmth, or simply a neutral feeling… whatever you notice is perfectly okay.

Allowing any tension you might be holding in your scalp or forehead to soften and release… imagining that tension flowing away like a gentle stream… leaving you feeling calm and peaceful.

Now, bring your awareness to your eyes… noticing the muscles around your eyes… allowing them to soften and relax… releasing any strain or tension you might be holding there… feeling the relaxation deepen.

Moving your attention to your jaw… noticing if you are clenching or holding any tension there… gently allowing your jaw to relax… perhaps even opening your mouth slightly… releasing any tightness.

And now, focusing your awareness on your neck and shoulders… often areas where we hold a lot of stress and tension… visualizing any tightness melting away… allowing your shoulders to drop… becoming heavy and relaxed.

Feel that wave of relaxation flowing down your arms… into your elbows… your forearms… your wrists… and finally, into your hands… allowing your fingers to soften and gently curl.

Notice the sensations in your hands… perhaps a tingling, a warmth, or simply the feeling of your palms resting against your body or your lap… just noticing without judgment.

Bring your awareness now to your chest… noticing the gentle rise and fall with each breath… feeling the expansion and contraction… allowing any tension in your chest to dissolve… leaving you feeling open and spacious.

Focusing on your abdomen… feeling the gentle movement of your breath in this area… allowing your stomach to soften… releasing any tightness or holding… letting go of any tension.

Now, moving your awareness down to your hips and pelvis… noticing any sensations there… allowing any tension to simply melt away… feeling the muscles soften and relax… sinking deeper into relaxation.

Feel the relaxation flowing down your thighs… your knees… your calves… and into your ankles… allowing your legs to become heavy and relaxed… completely supported and at ease.

Finally, bring your awareness to your feet… noticing any sensations in your soles, your heels, your toes… feeling the connection to the ground beneath you… allowing your feet to relax completely.

And now, taking a moment to scan your entire body from head to toe… noticing how you feel… appreciating the sensations… acknowledging the relaxation that has deepened throughout your being.

Feel the weight of your body resting comfortably… supported and secure… allowing yourself to sink deeper and deeper into this peaceful state of relaxation… feeling the gentle rhythm of your breath.

Knowing that you can return to this feeling of deep relaxation at any time… simply by focusing on your breath and gently scanning your body… bringing awareness and acceptance to whatever sensations arise.

Taking a few deeper breaths now… gently bringing your awareness back to the present moment… noticing the sounds around you… the feeling of the air on your skin… feeling refreshed and renewed.

And when you are ready… gently wiggling your fingers and toes… slowly opening your eyes… and carrying this sense of peace and relaxation with you throughout your day… feeling grounded, centered, and present.
